2025 Alumni Winners

At 25, Sydney was looking for direction and a career where she could make a difference. Referred to the WIOA Title I Youth Program by Dental Depot, she connected with Oklahoma Works and Career Navigator Michael Johanson. Through that connection Sydney found the guidance, encouragement, and structure she needed to achieve her goals. Through the program, Sydney completed her training and earned a Certificate of Completion as a Dental Hygienist. Now employed with Dental Depot, she has gained confidence, stability, and a renewed sense of purpose. Sydney’s story highlights how WIOA Title I programs help individuals build meaningful careers.

When Corionna moved to Oklahoma with her three children, she was determined to build a stable future but lacked the support and resources to get there. Through TANF, she connected with Katie Quillin and Fran Colombin, who helped her take the first steps toward her dream of becoming a nurse.With access to safe housing and referrals to Oklahoma Works and the OSUIT MPower Program, Corionna received education, hands-on work experience through WIOA Title I Adult program, and mentorship in the healthcare field. That support led to a permanent position as an LPN with ECO Family Health Center.Today, Corionna is self-sufficient, employed, and able to provide new opportunities for her children. Her story highlights the life-changing impact of education, workforce partnerships, and community support.

Wes Stewart has played a key role in strengthening Oklahoma’s workforce through his leadership at Holloway, Updike & Bellen, Inc. (HUB Engineers). Known for delivering high-quality engineering services statewide, HUB’s impact under Wes’s guidance extends beyond infrastructure.A strong advocate for workforce development, Wes championed WIOA Title I Work Experience and On-the-Job Training programs, creating hands-on opportunities for individuals entering or re-entering the workforce. Participants gain real-world experience on active projects while working alongside experienced engineers and technicians, often leading to full-time employment with HUB.Through a culture of mentorship, quality, and attention to detail, Wes and HUB Engineers are not only building trusted projects but helping shape strong career pathways for the future.

2025 Success Stories

Through the support of the WIOA Title I Adult program, Keshunna Carvin was able to secure a valuable internship that transformed her professional path. Coming from a corporate background in financial services, she initially believed perfection was the key to career advancement. Her nonprofit experience challenged that mindset, exposing her to authentic, compassionate leadership focused on growth and collaboration.During her internship, Keshunna built strong nonprofit program management and organizational skills while gaining hands-on experience in digital communications, including social media marketing, brand management, and public relations. She especially excelled in data storytelling and visualization, creating dashboards, infographics, reports, and presentations that turned complex data into clear, meaningful insights.Keshunna is grateful for the opportunity and ongoing support she received through the Green Country Workforce Development Board WIOA Title I Adult program, which played a key role in her professional growth.

When Muskogee Work Ready partnered with Green Country Workforce through the Title I Adult Work Experience (WEX) Program, we gained more than just an intern, we gained a dedicated team member who made a real impact. In collaboration with Muskogee Work Ready, this experience highlighted the true value of investing in future talent through meaningful, hands-on opportunities.Our intern joined us ready to learn and quickly became an asset to our team. She demonstrated strong knowledge, needed minimal supervision, and contributed significantly to our data entry processes for participant records. Her professionalism and growth mindset stood out, reinforcing the quality of candidates this program provides.From the participant’s perspective, the impact was just as meaningful. “This program has the potential to truly change your life,” she shared. “The knowledge, resources, and hands-on experience I’ve gained through Green Country Workforce are unmatched and have opened doors I never thought possible.” She especially valued the connections made through Work Ready Oklahoma and the chance to develop her communication skills, gaining confidence and learning how to engage effectively with diverse individuals.The success of this experience reflects the strong structure of the WEX program. The expectations and requirements were clear and manageable, allowing for a balance between productivity and learning. This framework enabled our intern to thrive while contributing to our mission.To other companies considering workforce development partnerships, we say this: Green Country Workforce is a resource worth investing in.
